About Reiki

Beginning something new can feel exciting, but it often comes with questions. Whether you're curious about Reiki, Sound Healing, meditation or energy-based practices, you're not alone.

The information below addresses some of the questions I hear most often. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, please feel free to reach out. I'm always happy to help you determine whether these services may be a good fit for your needs.  -- Christina

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is a gentle energy-based wellness practice that originated in Japan. During a Reiki session, the practitioner uses light touch or works just above the body to encourage relaxation, balance, and a sense of well-being.

Many people seek Reiki to help reduce stress, support emotional wellness, and promote a greater sense of calm and connection. Reiki is often described as deeply relaxing and can be used alongside other wellness spractices and traditional medical care.

How long is a Reiki Session?

Your first Reiki session includes a brief consultation followed by approximately 45 minutes of Reiki. This allows time to discuss your goals, answer questions, and create a session tailored to your needs.

Follow-up sessions are typically 30-60 minutes, depending on your preferences and goals.

How many sessions will I need?

Every person is different. Some people feel noticable benefits after a single session, while others choose to schedule a series of sessions for ongoing support.

The number of sessions depends on your individual goals, stress levels, lifestyle, and the challenges you are seeking support with. During your visit, we can discuss what may be most appropriate for your situation.

What is a Reiki session like?

During a Reiki session, you will remain fully clothed and comfortably rest on a treatment table. Gentle music may be played to help create a peaceful environment.

The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above various areas of the body. There is no massage or manipulation of the muscles.

People often report feelings of warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or a sense of peace during a session. Others simply enjoy the opportunity to rest quietly and allow their bodies and minds to unwind.

What can Reiki help with?

Many people use Reiki as a complementary wellness practice to support relaxation, stress reduction, emotional balance, restful sleep, and overall well-being.

While Reiki is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions, many individuals find it helpful during times of stress, life transitions, recovery, or when seeking greater balance in their lives.

Who can receive Reiki sessions?

Reiki is a gentle practice that may be received by people of all ages, including children, adults, and seniors. It is also commonly used with animals.

Will Reiki interfere with my faith or religion?

No. Reiki is not a religion and does not require any particular belief system. People from many different faith backgrounds - or no faith background at all - choose to receive Reiki.

Reiki is simply a gentle relaxation and energy-balancing practice that can be incorporated into a person's existing spiritual beliefs or used independently from them.

Are Reiki sessions covered by insurance?

At this time, Reiki sessions are generally not covered by health insurance plans.

My goal is to keep sessions affordable and accessible, and package pricing is available for those who wish to schedule multiple sessions.
